Abstract
Estimating the housing deficit can be challenging, considering that this task depends on the availability of demographic data. This article conducted a bibliometric-systematic review and sought to identify scientific publications that integrate these topics. From the Scopus database, 565 articles dealing with the housing deficit between 2003 and 2023 were identified, along with 22 articles from 1981 to 2023 that include some approach based on demographic data. The results highlighted the importance of building a historical record of the housing deficit to understand trends and predict challenges for housing policies, emphasizing the dependence on frequent demographic data collection.
