Abstract

Objective: The objective of this research is to measure attitudes towards people in street situations, and compare the scores of men and women in a city in northern Mexico. Method: The investigation is a cross-sectional descriptive-comparative study. 100 people with ages between 18 and 66 years participated with an average of 23.27 years (SD = 6.66). Results: Among the results highlights that people have a neutral attitude towards people in street situations, the items with which people were more in agreement, consisted in that people in street situation take advantage of their condition to ask for money , they do not want to work, and people buy sweets that the indigent sell. On the other hand, in the comparison of sexes significant differences were observed, where women presented more positive attitudes than men. Conclusions: The findings coincide with the results of other studies that indicate neutral or found attitudes regarding people in street situations.
